How hot can it be for plants to produce crops?

It has been very hot in STL, upper 90's and 100's for the last couple of weeks. My plants aren't producing much right now because it is so hot. When should I expect that they will perk up again? It will be in the lower 90's this week, possibly high 80's. I'm hoping this heat wave doesn't totally prevent any further summer harvest.

Left a couple small tomato plants in my Arizona garden and one of them, in the middle of July, started producing a few small tomatoes. They look like cherry tomatoes but not certain which type it is (there are 3-4 different types toss in)

Let's not forget...

We may need cooler temps to get the veggies going again, BUT the soil is also very, very warm right now. I put a meat thermometer in mine AFTER watering the other day and it read 96°! We need both the air and the soil to cool off. Lower 90s would be fine if we could get down into the upper 60s at night. As long as our lows stay in the mid 70s, we likely need cooler daytime highs. It's just a waiting game for now. But, we should almost be there. Climatologically, we start coming off our average high of 90° in about another week.
