Love the new look today!
I love the new look today. It's easier to read with these colors.
Also, it seems there is more room for 'Latest Topics' on the left.
Good job everyone.

Love the "New Look"
I'm not much good at computer stuff, so, if I need to get something done to my mouse just let me know.
I'm having problems being able to click on 'Latest Topics" When I get over that way, your suggested topics comes up, and gets in the way. It takes quite a bit to get in and click on a topic before the hover funtion comes up. Is my mouse causing this?
Thanks, Jo

middlemama,
I love your Barbara Kingsolver quote! Have you read "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle"?
It has been a very influential book for me in how I approach food.

I like it except green lettering on the dark grey/tan area near the top and at the bottom is hard to read.
Also the line with the green background with black letter (links from Home to Log Out) - the letters appear pixilated(?). Maybe just the font used but it is not easy to read on my screen.
The rest is fine.

Sorry for the inconvenience. The Latest Topics are important for those of us who are on the forum frequently. Let's see what we can figure out.littlejo wrote:...When I get over that way, your suggested topics comes up, and gets in the way....
Here's what I can see. This is what I used to determine the size of the 'scallops'. This screenshot is on my netbook, with a 800x600 resolution.
I wanted all the scallops to be as big as the 'hover' scallop, but they would have encroached onto The Latest Topics list.
This is a screenshot on my PC with a 1280x1024 resolution.
As long as your cursor is a fraction away from the scallops, there shouldn't be a problem. Do either one of these look like what you're seeing?
Another thought: if you keep your cursor in this area, it won't trigger the slider. Is this a possibility?
Let me know.

I think you mean the visited link color, and I agree. I think m2 can make the green darker or find another color.
Let me guess: you're using Internet Explorer! Here's what you're seeing. Also the line with the green background with black letter (links from Home to Log Out) - the letters appear pixilated(?). Maybe just the font used but it is not easy to read on my screen.
Here's what everyone who is using Firefox, Chrome, and Opera sees:
While I was checking browser compatibility, I was surprised to see that difference. Each of those links is an image-not a font to be rendered. I don't have a clue why IE is not displaying the image properly.
If you right click on one of the link images, then left click on 'Save Picture As' and put it where you can find it, then right click on 'Preview', it looks like it should...strange!
Re: Love the new look today!
Boff - I noticed that I don't get the "scallops" in Google Chrome - but I do in IE - IE often reads html differently than Chrome, Firefox, etc...I haven't gotten it all figured out either
At any rate, I do LOVE the simplicity and the color scheme in the new layout - very nice.

I made it a little darker. If you make it too much darker green you can't differentiate between it and the brown lettering pre-click.

Too funny! Here's what I see in Chrome!:
For years, IE has been the nemesis of web designers. Supposedly, 8 and 9 are better, but...this is a screen shot in IE8 of my post above. IE won't display the image properly, but it will display an image of the image properly! I dunno! LOL
Well, anyhow, I'm glad the colors are monitor friendly.
Re: Love the new look today!
Boffer, you are right I am using Internet Explorer. I have no idea what version but I have never seen the scallops.
MM: The darker green font color you just now tried is better. The orange font was not good.

Re: Love the new look today!
Boffer,
Thought you might want to know. I'm using Firefox on a wide screen monitor. Resolution is 1680 x 1050 and I'm having some trouble with a lot of the text appearing blurry. I haven't changed the resolution on my monitor and the website was fine before - so something changed in this version. I also don't have any "scallops".
Thanks
Gloria

Well, I think that I was getting over to the left too far. (And it is only on the opening page)I don't have to go to the home page.
I don't know how to get the screen shot, but on the left there is about 1/2 inch of grey space, no scallops/hover on any page except 1st.
I'm using IE 9. I really like the colors, more vibrant and easier to read.
Thanks, Jo

Re: Love the new look today!
FF on 1440 screen---no scallops and the font on the green background is fuzzy also.
What size screen was the images made on? If made on a smaller screen such as 800 and the width setting on a larger screen is set to make the site larger it would make them pixelate more. I have mine set to my screen so that may be what is happening.

I found the scallops. They are only on the home page but I rarely go there.

I bought the book, but completely forgot about it. I'm glad you mentioned it. Maybe I'll read it on the Auto Train when I go get my mom from FL next week.

I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

Re: Love the new look today!
When looking at the Latest Topics column I am missing the red type of when I have read the post.
When logging on I usually go straight the last posting in the red and then read on from there.
Is it possible to do something about that, please....?
I only have a small screen on my home monitor so have to do a bit too much scrolling, but everthing is fine on my laptop which has a wider screen.
Thanks for all the work you are putting into this re-vamp.

Re: Love the new look today!
Hi Kelejan - My "read" posts in the "Latest Topics" bar along the left side are now in a dark green font...it might be hard on a small screen to see the difference between the green and the brown....???

Re: Love the new look today!
You're both right! The dark green shows up on my PC monitor pretty good, but it barely shows on my netbook.
The visited link color has to work on the 'yellow' as well as the 'brown'. We'll keep experimenting.

Re: Love the new look today!
MacBook pro user here. Looks fine and same in Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Opera. Do see scallops on left at first page in all my browsers as reported, my read links are a medium blue as is the RE:repeated thread name at top. Did the chat go away, never saw anybody else in it so that ok. Neat little online banner in top r corner of each message if they are logged in, what will that assist with. Otherwise fine here. Nice work in your paper hanging.
