Ready for Fall
I finally got my 4x6 bed filled! Grandkids and PaPa made sure I didn't overdo and get to hot.
I have a frame on it because next year this is the area my entire garden will be moved to (if I find someone that wants to cut down an old maple for firewood!). I want this bed to be more enclosed. We are going to put clear corrugated panels on the top and short sides. Hubby says he will come up with a way to put plastic on the long sides and still be able to open them. Kinda like a greenhouse.
So far I want to plant turnips, kohlrabi, carrots, and leave room for lettuce and radishes.
These are my special little grandkids...cousins....Both born on May 17, Brian is 11 and Lexy is 9. Brian was named with the same initials as PaPa and I got to name Alexandria Maria.

Re: Ready for Fall
You've got a great area for your fall crops.
Having a specific place for fall crops can work so that you can enclose the whole thing when it gets colder.
Good job and good luck.

Westie, it is 12" something rofl... I am allergic to cedar so no way would hubby put that up! He would let me know what I was getting! I think it is pine out of Menards scrap boxes. Ben made the design for me as he was putting it up. Oh, today he looked at the panels in Menards. He decided he is going to enclose it and make doors on the long sides! I can't wait to see what he comes up with!
I wanted deeper because I will be doing carrots and I just am not ambitious enough to do the high rise thing...ok I am just to lazy! With the M.S., this time of year is NOT good for me being out in the yard for more than a few minutes at a time. If I get hot I loose the ability to walk...rofl..kinda like a drunk without the hangover! So I go out for a while at about 6 am I so love to sleep rofl.. then, if I need to, I look over the garden during breaks while we are playing in the pool! kinda like sneaking in a little gardening!
Tomorrow I have to pull the broccoli..it is done and harvest more garlic..I will check on my onions, I think they are ready. I have beans to plant and more asian beans for the kids arbor. I just have a FEW things I want to do...I need to get out my journal and make a list.... ***mutters to self while half asleep***....
