Succession Planting
Had some nice looking spinach and leaf lettuce which recently bolted, presumably from the heat. (No problems with my Swiss Chard.) Now I have several empty squares that I don't want sitting idle. I'd love to have some more lettuce, but I'm thinking I'd better wait until cooler weather for that. What have you all successfully planted at this point in the growing season? I'm looking for advice that's specific to my region. We've had a very rainy summer, but it's almost July. Thanks...

After I pulled some of my lettuce, peas and garlic up last week, I planted a bush beans called Dragon Tongue. Where the peas were I planted Lemon squash. In lone emptied squares...basil, nasturtiums and marigolds. I still have a four adjacent empty squares and I'm going to plant more of the Dragon Tongue beans in them later this week. My shallots will come up soon, so it may be beans there too. I like to successively plant my bush beans in groups of four squares so that I never run out.
I heard about a heat tolerant Romaine lettuce called Jericho on this list and I've already ordered the seed. It should be here today!
See this thread: https://squarefoot.forumotion.com/t8036-lettuce-flavors
I'm going to try that in a couple of the squares where I have some on-the-verge-of-bolting lettuce.
There a few ideas anyway. It kind of depends on what you like and how many empty squares you have.
