Replacement Planting (Succession Planting?)

Replacement Planting (Succession Planting?)
One type of Succession Planting I rarely see discussed is really Replacement Planting. Some plants, such a cucumbers and summer squash, frequently meet early demise due to bugs such as the cucumber beetle or squash vine borer. It seems that just when the plants are at their peak production, they suddenly start dying and that is the end of the harvest. I use replacement planting to extend the harvest season for these vulnerable vegetables. When the cucumbers are starting their heavy fruiting, I will sow some new seeds in a different part of the garden. When the cucumber beetles attack the producing plants, and they begin to die, there are young seedlings developing vines that will soon start producing, but the cucumber beetles have moved on and are not a threat to the new plants. I do the same with summer squash.
This Replacement Planting is in addition to the normal succession planting that I do with cool weather and warm weather crops, and it allows me to extend the growing season within our short season.
Other suggestions for more replacement planting?
