Cures for yellow bean leaves?
My pole bean leaves have been yellowing for some time now, and they're stiff and crinkly. I'm thinking if I don't intervene, they're going to be toast.
I'm thinking it's probably something lacking in the soil. I added extra compost, but that doesn't seem to be helping, it must be something else.
I'm thinking of zapping them with some Miracle Gro.
Is that allowed?

Yes, it is allowed, it's your garden after all!
Can you post a photo? How tall and how many leaves do they have now?

Okay, Got some photos now
It's kinda rainy, and it seems like maybe they're greening up a little? I read on a googled site that beans might go thru a yellow period, where they're switching from the nitrogen from the seed, to the nitrogen their roots pick up in the soil. I'm hoping that's it. Anyway, here's basically what they looked like this morning.

(Why don't they look as green as those nice healthy weeds in the background?)

NHGardener, glad they are greening up.
As far as the weeds being so green, they are devious little things
and seem to thrive even when our gardens struggle.

Well, they DID look worse.
Truthfully, I think they just greened up for the picture. They'll probably be banana colored tomorrow.
Liking this rain? At least we don't have to water for a while...
