For some reason my lettuce is going from good, to bad to worse. The outside of the leaves are beginning to turn yellow. The weather (heat/cold) hasn't affected them so I'm wondering is it too much water, too little? Our weather has been crazy for this time of year with warmer than unusual temps. I watch the weather and if rain is predicted I won't water, and then when it doesn't arrive I water in the morning and sure enough there will be a downpour later in the day? thinking I don't know what it is, but it's driving me crazy?

Check around the base of the plant, you may have snails/slugs. I hear that beer in a saucer works good. A lot of rain should not bother the lettuce but will draw the snails.

I knew there was some reason I kept those three cans of beer. Now I can tell the better half that I must "sacrifice" a can for the lettuce! rofl

I'll get a photo this afternoon, a mixture of MM is in that bed.

Yellow leaves 3170584802 But, it will take less than 1/2 can for the snails!

Take a small bowl, press it into your MM, level with the MM. Fill with an inch or so of beer. (You might try a 16oz container from dairy products, or a 1/4lb container from deli salads.)

In the morning, collect and destroy the dead snails.

They are attracted to the yeast, but can't handle the rest!

I noticed the two roses we put in last week are also yellowing. The only two out of 20+ and the only two out of 6 new ones. I'm not sure of the cause either, but the dirt and nutrients probably need to settle. Phosphorus is really low in my rose beds.
