Finish my SFG or hold off?
Hi Everyone,
I was planning to finish building my SFG today after work but the weather was calling for some scattered thunderstorms tonight and windy tomorrow. Should I go ahead and finish building the box and filling it with mels mix or should I wait for the storm to pass so it won't wash the mix and seeds away?
Seems like something is always coming up preventing me from this project.

go ahead and finish them if you wish. no matter whether you plant now or later, it is going to rain one day anyway. the box will hold the mix, the mix will hold the seeds (especially once it gets wet). your job is to obsessively check the box every hour to encourage the seeds to sprout.
Re: Finish my SFG or hold off?
I have the box built but it started raining just as I was finishing screwing it together so its just a wooden frame with no mix. I can do that part tomorrow. My 2x4's were slightly curved so the joints aren't really tight and have a small gap towards the bottom. I'm hoping that won't be an issue.

Howdy:
NO issue at all. I don't have a straight board in any box I have built. I don't think they are sold any more and after I get through cutting on them I know they are not straight! Plus many of my boxes are built with "dumpster dive" boards of unknown ancestry.
God Bless, Ward and Mary.

Hope you filled it and the rain moistened everything for you. Hope you get stuff planted in there soon, too.
If you have seeds you are afraid will wash away, just cover with a dropcloth and brick it down for the night.
But, like others have said, it's a gonna rain summa day. Plants are built to take it.
