I have done my research on building the SFG beds, what to plant, when to plant and when to harvest BUT other than watering and occasionally adding fertilizer I have no idea what to do while things are growing. Any information is greatly appreciated!

Well I sure do like those answers! I read somewhere (cant find it now) that it takes 3 hours per week per 4x4 bed to maintain the garden but I am happy to know that is not the case. Very Happy

I could easily spend way more than 3 hours per week in my garden. Not to maintain it though. Just to enjoy it!

Really, you just need a few minutes a couple of times a day to water, if it needs it and check for critters. If you happen to get the odd weed in there, they are very easy to spot and pull.

Good luck with your garden and don't forget to post pictures. We love pictures!

Prune suckers off tomatoes
Help plants a bit on the trellis
Obsessively watch them grow
Hand-pollinate squash if you don't have bees around (or they don't seem to be doing their job)

This is where I'm at right now.

Fill your glass when you get home from work and stoll around the painlessness that is SFG.

You can always find things to do in the garden, but I bet most of them don't affect much. There's a reason nothing is written about maintaining the growing SFG.....if there was something to do, it would be in print.

Welcome to the easy life.......mostly.

Check on it every hour. Smile

Yesterday, I vowed I would check/water in the morning and then not go out there anymore for the rest of the day. Didn't work. I checked it at least 6 times.

This might be why I think my garden is growing in sloooooooow motion!

My goodness! Tell me about it!

I planted some peas, carrots, kale, spinach, lettuce, radishes and onions about two days ago. I can't stop running out there to see if something happened. (It hasn't by the way Once planted... 225728 )
