So Cal Garden Report Feb 1 - what to plant Empty what I planted

Post  model a man 2/3/2011, 10:49 pm

Yesterday and today I planted, walla walla onions, yellow onions, red onions, garlic, bell peppers (that I started indoors about 3 weeks ago), cucumbers, strawberrys, I also started in 3 greenhouse trays yesterday and today, tomatoes, broccoli, cabbage, artichoke, itallian peppers (3 different kinds), lettuce (romaine and butterhead), and I have these seed to plant directly in the ground. zuccuni, bok choy, butternut squash, green beans, cauliflower, green onions, spinach, cantaloupe, watermelon, and sugar snap peas. I need to check to see when I am to plant all these. this is my first time trying gardening and I went all out.I ripped out all the sod in my backyard and I built 5) 4x6 and 3) 3x6 and 1) 2'x30' and 1)3x5 boxes. I also added 1 dwarf lemon tree, 1 semi dwarf fuji apple tree. plus I have had a fig tree. I also added 3 different kinds of grapes and a pomegranate tree. keeping my fingers crossed that all this will work out. I got tried of paying outragious prices for food at the store and didnt trust the produce as most is not grown in usa at the store I shop at.

Wow! Let me know how the cucumbers do. Last year I planted later in the summer and they got a lot of aphids. I am wondering if I planted earlier if I might avoid this. Keep us posted.

Sounds like you have a lot of space. Very exciting!

Post  model a man 2/4/2011, 1:38 am

I have checked the box stores and have had no luck finding banana squash seeds. I love banana squash and it cost a lot to buy at the stores so I want to try to grow it
