new to site from south east texas
Hello, Chris here from south east texas. I have read the the new sfg book and like it a lot. I have had three basicly failed gardens so far but have learned from them so i hope to get it right this year. My learning experience as follows,
1st time- irregular watering times, was wifeys job- fixed now( auto watering set up)
2nd time- dogs killed the garden- fixed now (no more dogs).
3rd time- record heat wave burned it- fixed now( i have garden fabric shade material set up)
I am also working on a mini greenhouse so i can grow longer this year starting early and continuing through winter, fingers crossed.

The ALL NEW SQUARE FOOT GARDENING book was almost a dream come true for me. The method is easy, though it is a real job mixing the Mel's Mix. Mel's Mix is a wonderful thing as I can keep the medium watered, (yes I use drip hoses) and the limited number of weeds takes away one of the worst parts of gardening for me.
Please keep us posted on your garden and be sure to include pictures. Many of us are interested in greenhouses, so please let us see plans, construction and progress reports.
I think all new members should read the topic MELS MIX IS THE HEART AND SOUL OF SFG . The information on obtaining quality composts and the importance of a blend of 5 types of compost is invaluable.
Again, Welcome, and please keep us posted on your progress.

Welcome Chris. Glad you got ride of the dogs and not your wife.
I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

Howdy! what's shakin' in Katy? Are they still developing that place as fast as they can build streets through the old rice fields?
Welcome to SFG forums - lots of Texans on here and several in your neck of the woods. My guess is that you are in the tropical south region... swing by the regional forums, they are bit quiet now, but they will wind up as gardening season gets closer.
