Stuff growing in the compost

Last year I bought a bag of compost from an organic type garden store. They told me it was really good and from a variety of sources. I planned on using it to replace what I lost when I removed the old plants to plant new ones. Well because of my pest infestation destroying everything, I got discouraged and just left it all for several months.
Now here is the interesting part: the compost in the clear bag that was left in the sun starting growing something. I guess it was like a terrarium. I have since moved the bag into the shed and over winter everything died.
Anyway, I want to know if it is ok to use the compost after pulling out the "weeds" or is whatever grew in the bag going to grow in the garden?

Yes....any tiny little seed that got in there would have grown because of all the nutritious stuff in the bag...pull what was growing out and throw that in your compost pile to continue composting and use it. I would.

Maybe someone else can think of something for you to look for that might be a bad indicator...but if it were me I would use it.

What did the "growing something" look like? Was it a green plant or a mold or maybe mushroom looking?
If it was a plant I would do as Jen suggested and pull the plant and place it in your compost pile or maybe just pour the whole bag into your compost and stir it in if you have a hot compost pile and let the contents cook with the rest of the compost.
