Hello from Troutman, NC from a beginner SFG'er
My name is Mike and I just completed construction of (9) SFG beds. I've researched the SFG concept and look forward to getting started. My soil is ready and my asparagus and tubers should arrive from Burpee this week. I got my seeds and the transplants are stacked deep and cheap at the local Lowe's. It took a pretty good effort to get the boxes built and soil ready. And the cost, well, lets just say the misses has high expectations for what money I spent.
I grew up (well during the summers) on a small 80 acre farm near Charlotte, NC. Many years ago my grandparents passed away and all the family knowledge of farming seemed to pass away as well. I decided to get into SFG as a way to re-learn that which was lost and to satisfy an urge to get back to basics. So I'm looking forward to the challenge! Plus I like my veggies with my meat!!!

Welcome to the forum and to SFG, Mike!
Wow, you started big. Kudos to you! I'm willing to bet you will see lots of of great, um, condiments to go along with your meat.
I grew up on a small farm, too. I learned a lot from my dad but I was so young (under 10 or so) that I keep on finding myself "remembering" things and wondering if I really remember them. He is gone now, and I find myself really enjoying gardening and thinking to myself that wherever he might be, he is probably laughing his keester off at the silly mistakes I am make...but I am enjoying myself immensely. And I hope you will, too. Gardening is a great back-to-the-basics hobby and darned tasty besides. I hope you will agree in months to come that there is NOTHING like your own home grown stuff!
This is a wonderful place with lots of very experienced gardeners who are glad to share their knowledge. Please let us know more about your ideas and plans... and, if you haven't heard it already, we love pictures!
