New SFGer in Nebraska
Hi,
My name is Lou (short for Lou Ann) and I live in Omaha, Nebraska. I've gardened before, but not lately and this will be the first time I've done SFG. I'm disobeying directions and starting a bit bigger than the recommended 4x4 plot since I've had may hands in the soil before. I'm also looking into hydroponics or aeroponics because I'd like to be able to grow grow greens and lettuce year round, and we have very unpredictable springs here that can go from freezing to 90 in no time flat.
Today I stumbled upon the site as I was searching for guidance on growing black beans in a SF plot.

Hi Lou. Welcome from Atlanta, GA! Glad you found us.
What are you growing? (Besides black beans, that is....)

thanks for your welcome, Atlanta Marie, and Countrynaturals
Right now I have an assortment of lettuce and arugula starting to look like real food, and some onion and pepper seedlings getting primed for the season outside. My calendar is marked for seed starting until the weather opens up and then I'm planting all sorts of stuff- no carrots, I'm not a carrot fan, other that that- beans (well beyond black), boc choy, peas, tomatoes, cucumbers, kale, radishes, beats, tomatillos, assorted peppers. Maybe some sweet corn. Strawberries (but they are going in Mr Stacky vertical bins) and blueberries in containers.
There will be plenty of food to share with the food banks!

Thanks, Sanderson
Yes, I have a copy of the third edition. Never fear, all my beds are either 2' or 4' wide. They just add up to more than what they suggest you start with.

+1 My first beds were 2'x3' and 2'x4', and they kept multiplying.lalukas wrote:Yes, I have a copy of the third edition. Never fear, all my beds are either 2' or 4' wide. They just add up to more than what they suggest you start with.
