Re: Compost bins: Open vs. closed
It has been a couple weeks since I checked the activity of the coffee grounds and wheat straw in the compost bin, but it is still steadily composting at about 94ºF. This is an experimental unattended cold composting bin with nothing but alternating layers of coffee grounds and wheat straw. As it composts down, I periodically add another layer of coffee grounds, and then cover them with some straw.
