End of season summary 2010
Hi all,
Do we have an end of season summary by forum members, where they can tell us such things as what they grew, what went well and what didn't and the reason why they think that happened. If they followed Mel's book to the word or tried something a little different and the results they got. Just an idea.

Hi Mick,
Each Regional Host posts a monthly update, and everyone is welcome to reply with their feedback and their own updates. Stay tuned, the December updates are coming up soon. Also, many members post their own updates, with or without us.
Happy Gardening!

Re: End of season summary 2010
I like your thinking, BUT, the 'end of season' happens at a different time for each of us. I second Megan's thoughts-we do try to update each other at the first of the month. It has been truly fascinating to watch the progress of SFGers around the world, throughout their growing seasons.
Re: End of season summary 2010
Yes, and most of us have jobs and families and lives, and doing a massive year-end (whenever that year-end is!) summary would be really challenging to put together. I have to stay on my toes just to keep up with the monthly updates. And honestly, I like the monthly update idea better. They may be shorter and less comprehensive, but they are more immediate and timely. A summary would probably lose the at-the-moment observations that I personally find very valuable.

We do? I guess I better get busy... Oh wait,,,,,,, yeah, I harvested brussels sprouts and now I am waiting for the 5 month deep freeze! brrrr.....Megan wrote:Hi Mick,

Re: End of season summary 2010
I get your points. I will wait for the end of month updates and see what you all have to say about your gardens. I will also do a search for previous months aswell to give me an idea as to what sort of reports you all do. Thanks.

Re: End of season summary 2010
Even within a single region, it varies quite a bit -- Mirjam is in Holland, and her weather is generally quite a lot harsher than mine here in France, and IceMaiden's seasons are quite a lot different from ours!
You and I are fairly close to being in the same "season"...and for Zone 8, you could also take a look at the Middle South and some of Lower South in the US -- they have about the same climate as we do (with a considerably lower propensity to be grey and drizzly).

What have I learned?
Mick, there have been a few threads posted over the summer about individual experiences and what people have learned from SFG. I searched for "what I have learned" and came up with seven threads.
You might check those out in addition to the monthly updates, and you might find one you'd like to bump to the top.
