Figs are ripe
My friend at church gave me a start of a fig bush last year & I was surprised it had 3 figs on it this year, now they are ripe. I picked one & it was so sweet & juicy. I'll have to save the others for my grandkids. But if they don't show up, guess I'll get them too!!![Figs are ripe 01310](https://i.servimg.com/u/f30/15/00/53/50/01310.jpg)

Re: Figs are ripe
My wife planted a fig tree 5-6 years ago, and every year the figs would rot on the tree because we didn't know how to tell when they were ripe! Never having eaten figs off the tree, we didn't care all that much. For some reason, last year I looked it up, just in time to get a few of the last good ones.
They'll never rot on the tree again-they were goooood!

That's very neat. I should look them up....not that I have much sun or space, but I've surprised everyone this year with what I've done, so, who knows what could be possible. Love the idea of figs.

Ok, I see figs are not in my future. LOL. Very labor intensive things to get them to overwinter and produce in my cold neck of the woods. Not interested in that anymore. LOL

Re: Figs are ripe
There are actually rogue figs in our yard, but they have never in 10 years produced fruit, and are more annoying than anything. I would love to get fruit from them one day.
Re: Figs are ripe
I think I always thought of figs as huge, old trees. Forgot that for a garden you control the size somewhat and that the likelihood of it and me being in my backyard in 100 years is rather slim.

Hey Chopper, We're not far from you and we have figs!
