How to tell when my tiger melon is ripe?
It just turned from green to orange, but how do I know when it's ready? Has anyone else grown these?

Duhh, Josh just picked a ripe Tiger Melon, perhaps he can give you info on determining ripeness.

thanks. I haven't been on as much lately and must have missed his post.
Re: How to tell when my tiger melon is ripe?
I waited till the stem on the melon started to sorta turn brown and then I picked it. It had turned orange for a few days. I read that they will slip from the vine when done, but I didn't wait for that. Mine was really sweet.
AZDYJ2K said that they picked theirs maybe too early and it was pretty tart.
Here is the link to the other discussion about the tiger melon.

Thanks for the info josh. My yellow stripes aren't as bright as yours look, but they are starting to lighten. I will wait another day or so before picking.
