Re: Sowbug Radish Damage
I thought that was what was happening to my winter French Breakfast radishes. If I left them in too long and the shoulders were exposed higher and higher, they had mechanical damage from something.
Re: Sowbug Radish Damage
Yes, the damage starts just above the soil line.

Re: Sowbug Radish Damage
That's why I love this forum. I was just about to ask if anyone else was having problems with something eating their radishes. I had to pull all of my radishes yesterday and throw them away.
I had really big Crimson Giant radishes that were almost completely hollowed out. I thought it may have been rabbits eating them. I have some French Breakfast radish coming up now and the don't seem to be bothered. SOOooo... What's the fix for this?

Re: Sowbug Radish Damage
Mr B, the only real way to eliminate them that I have found is a technique posted by Jimmy Cee some time ago. I have used Sluggo Plus to control them, but have found the sometimes prefer tender plants or seedlings to the bait. But, the Sowbug Swimming Pool eliminates them much faster and more reliably. Just have to empty the can every day to keep the smell down.

Re: Sowbug Radish Damage
Thanks OG. It's raining here now but I'll replant in a few days and try it out.
