Huge radish leaves starting to flower but no radish?
I've got some mature radishes that I harvested this week but some of them have huge leaves with seed heads that have no radish at all. I pushed the soil aside to take a look at it and it's just a root, hardly any radish at all. Should I cut off the seed head, leave it alone, or should I just pull it? Any idea why it never developed a radish, in spite of it's healthy leaf growth?

PLady:
At this time of the year and into early fall many radishes will "bolt" go to seed before a root bulb can grow. Perhaps the only way to grow radishes in the summer is to reduce the amount and duration of sun/light that the radish gets. Otherwise it will do as nature requires - make seed for the next radish season.
God Bless, Ward and Mary.

Pull them. Once they have bolted they won't make a bulb.

I have two gargantuan radishes (they look like turnips) which I have not pulled yet as I have been hoping they will serve as a trap crop. Will they just keep on growing? No sign of flowers yet.
(And I am going to cry if I pull them and they are all eaten away underneath... but I guess that is what they are there for.)
