It seems the only time I actually succession seed is when I have in ground germination failure! I am terrible at it? Same boat on the letttuce front here too. I love it but lots of salads in our future!

Re: N&C Midwest: May 2020
I was really surprised when I went out to check the gardens this evening to find that the Blue Lake Bush Beans were already popping up out of the ground. The seeds were just put in the beds on Saturday, the 23rd, and today is only 4 days later - I didn't expect to see plants emerging until mid next week. So, I had to get the bird netting over the bed so that the birds do not eat the seedlings as they pop up. Hopefully we'll get a good stand of beans again this year.

OG, I think the heat has really accelerated things on the growth front!

Was planning on transplanting the peppers into the garden this weekend, but we have a cold front coming in which will delay the plans. Tonight is supposed to get down to the mid-40's, and tomorrow night is supposed to get down to 40°F. The peppers will do better if they aren't out in that cool weather, so they won't get planted until probably Tuesday now.

Yeah, mine are out there...the only things I haven’t put out are the squashes, melons and cukes. And the sunflowers, which are basically ready and I might put them in tomorrow. I’m just kind of sick of dealing with the plants and want them in!

So I planted the identifiable melons and squash on the South Annex. Re-planted ungerminated groundcherries, Minnesota Midgets, and True Charentais.
The cukes, and other melons will go in when I have time. Need to put up trellis. Cool here! 40s tonight!

Spent the afternoon on the patio. Planted the zucchini, some of the beans, flowers (bee mix) onion sets and got all of the celery, eggplant and peppers transplanted. Will plant more beans as the turnips/radishes, and lettuce come out of those spots. All and all a good day.

Got down to 38°F last night - way too cool for this time of the year! The only tender plants out in the gardens are the tomatoes and beans. Other than a short setback, they should come through okay. In the next couple days I will be transplanting the peppers into the bed.

That’s unseasonably cold...but temporary!
