Hey, square footers! I'm Doug from Erie, Pennsylvania, switching to sf gardening from the 'standard' this year. I've purchased the peat and vermiculite - still need the organic compost and wood for the boxes. Since they are all separate, how do I mix them together proportionally? I'm afraid I'll damage the weed barrier mixing it in the box. Thanks!

Welcome...best way to mix is to get a bucket and dump equal bucket fulls of the Peat Moss, Verm and the pre-mixed compost onto a tarp and either mix with a shovel or lift and pull the tarp back anf forth to mix. I did a bit of both, started each batch with tarp and finished with the shovel. Used 1 - 5 gallon bucket full of each ingredient per batch. Pretty easy to do by yourself.

Good luck,

Pete
