Re: Broken Record
It's picking up. Now if I can just more of the registered users who have zero or one posts by their name to talk more, you could rest!
Quick, without looking, how many registered users online can you name?

posting
I am new, have more than one post but don't post much because I am new to gardening. Maybe as the spring time weather progresses and I have more news to share I will post more. Until then I'm trying to absorb all the information I can get from all the great people here.
Thanks Everyone

Chex,
You're just the person I'm looking for! What could the forum offer, that you would be comfortable contributing to? For instance, the food forum is tangentially related, but is not really about sfg. Is there another forum topic, in the same vein, that you and other newbies would feel comfortable about?
I do understand your quote. I joined a BBQ forum a couple months ago (Santa brought me a cool grill) and those guys are so into it, I'm at a loss of words to contribute (no comment necessary, martha). They are just as friendly and helpful as the folks here, but I dunno what to say.
So if you think of anything, sound off, okay?
Rose
Sorry to say that I didn't grow that particular one but have grown that kind. Right now I don't have a rose garden (had one at previous home) but will be starting another one really soon. They are my favorite flower.
The rose in the picture is called a Mardi Gras Rose and the picture was taken at Bellingrath Gardens located about 15 miles from my home. All the pictures were taken by me.
Here is another for your enjoyment. I can't remember the name of this one:

An just one more to really wet you appitite This one is called Touch of Class

Re: Broken Record
I'm just a forum junkie, I'm on about 3-4 musician forums, 3 drum forums, this one, aquaponics, and a few homesteading /self sufficiency ones too.
I was also a mod on a guitar forum and participated in 2-3 World Of Warcraft forums when my addiction was in full swing, I had to quit playing it was consuming my entire life.

Re: Broken Record
I didn't realize the forum was so new! I just found you a couple of days ago. I too am a forum junkie and find it a great way to learn and share. I couple of years ago I built an outdoor wood burning pizza oven and a forum just like this helped me with every step and I loved the experience. While I have been gardening for years, I am new to SFG and have every confidence that you all will help this be an equally enjoyable experience.

Re: Broken Record
swripley and chexmix, welcome! I hope to see a lot of you around the different forums. Chexmix, you will have no excuse not to post photos of your garden as it progresses - the rose photos are really specatcular.

Chex, I can smell that rose all the way to Redmond, Oregon. If that garden is near Mobile, AL, I was there once. Very beautiful. catnip/mad

Re: Broken Record
I'm new. I'm a forum junkie too - and I love that you can easily see your posts and if anyone has replied to them! I think it's a great feature.
As for topics of interest...
"Compact" varieties (melons? I know there's a few)
Cost per batch of Mel's mix (anyone who buys all the ingredients, post a post with a prices and a total for one 4x4 box. I know this varies greatly depending on sources, but I think it would be very useful to see if we're getting a good deal and for initial budgeting)
Seasonal work - what do you do before last frost? What do you do after frost weekly (daily)? What do you do before first frost? After last frost? When it's Winter?
Gardening with kids - age related, what they plant, what you expect of them (build the box?), what they get out of it (profits from sales? Who wants a lemonade stand???)
Annuals in SFG - seperate beds for these? Like, strawberries? Asparagus?
I'm sure I can think of more... Most would be good post topics in the main, but a few could easily be forum topics.

Maybe my cheaters are dirty, but I think I see a small, really small, sfg box sitting on top of the counter It's a great looking space.
OT
And we would have missed the whole beautiful thing if you used PM.

Re: Broken Record
Thank you all for you kind words. Anstar you are absolutely right I used A LOT of vermiculite to insulate which means I already have my source lined up for my SFG project. Boffer now that you mention it there are numerous examples of SFG I just didn't realize that was what I was doing at the time. If you turn to the east from the same spot the oven photos were taken you get this...
These photos were taken in mid May of last year.
