Re: Regarding CountryNaturals and the Fire
Suz was just online in "Butterfly Junction." I think the wind changed last night in their favor.
But the fire doubled in size.

Re: Regarding CountryNaturals and the Fire
Now the National Guard has stepped in, so we can no longer sneak back home. All we can do is sit and wait. When the winds pick up at night, we just hold our breath and wait for the evacuation order. If our current location gets compromised, all we can do is go back to our granddaughter's place, which is not in danger, but lost power the first night, so we had to leave. Now their power is back on, so we have a re-backup-backup plan. Our biggest fear is strenghening, shiffing winds. Firefighting resourses are spread so thin, most areas are on their own.

Re: Regarding CountryNaturals and the Fire
Devastating news! A great-grandmother and her 2 great-grandbabies (4 & 5 years old) died in the fire in the surge that drove us out. That was also where the firefighter who lost his life was working to rescue people. It all happened right down the hill, just a mile from us, with no warning at all. They are now saying the wind gusts reached 75 mph. It's a miracle we survived. I don't know what saved us, but somehow the flames were diverted and never reached our property. I am having trouble processing this info.

Re: Regarding CountryNaturals and the Fire
CN,
That's sad to hear.
How and where are your animals?
Hoping that you remain safe,
Donna

Re: Regarding CountryNaturals and the Fire
So far they're all fine, but there has been no progress in this fire. We're all in as much danger tonight as we've ever been.donnainzone5 wrote:CN,

Re: Regarding CountryNaturals and the Fire
Suz, thanks for keeping me up to date.
I do understand absolute terror, having been in a few horrible situations in the past.
My heart is with you. Not to mention my mind.

Re: Regarding CountryNaturals and the Fire
No good news. Resources spread too thin with new fires and spreading fires for anyone to care about getting us back home. If they would just let us back in for an hour to check on plants and animals, it wouldn't be quite so bad, but they won't, so all we can do is wait and worry. It could be several more days, even if things don't get any worse.

Re: Regarding CountryNaturals and the Fire
I'm sorry you're going though this. I can't imagine how frustrating and scary it is. I'm guessing they won't let you back because they do care -- it sounds like that fire has been moving and changing so quickly that it would be hard to find an hour that was safe. And we all want you to stay safe. *hugs*

This is what we lived through. That could have been our house, only closer. We thought it was coming right for us. Can't imagine how we and our home survived. Turn your volume up to full blast and watch in full screen to get the total effect.

Re: Regarding CountryNaturals and the Fire
We just found out it was a category 3 tornado, with 143 mph winds. It came to about 100 yards away from us. We are soooo lucky to be alive.countrynaturals wrote:This is what we lived through. They just posted 360 degree photos of the Carr fire destruction. Here is the closest one to us. This shot is about a mile from us. You can't see our house, but you can get an idea of how awful it is.

That is terrible CN. It's strange to see all those houses burned to the ground yet surrounded by green trees.countrynaturals wrote:They just posted 360 degree photos of the Carr fire destruction. Re: Regarding CountryNaturals and the Fire
It looks like CN's Carr Fire is now 88% contained with 230,000 acres burned to date. My 99,000 acre Ferguson Fire is now out as of yesterday and it is nice to see some blue sky again. CN, you will dance with joy when the Carr Fire is out and the air is cleaner of particulate matter.
For CA this summer, 729,000 acres have burned in just 4 major fires. That's 1,129 square miles or the size of Denver, LA and NY cities. There are other smaller fires popping up and being extinguished. In general, temps will now be down into the 90's, if not 80's, in most of CA.

Re: Regarding CountryNaturals and the Fire
The temps are the only bright spots in the forecast. The air is still smoky and smelly. Somebody please post a pic of blue sky. I can't remember what it looks like.

Re: Regarding CountryNaturals and the Fire
Beautiful, S. When this is over, I promise never to take blue sky and sweet air for granted, again.

Re: Regarding CountryNaturals and the Fire
OMG! ANOTHER ONE! Bombers overhead -- 2 at a time. Choppers dropping water. Neighbors sent their kid up to us while they went to fight it. It was in the same area as the last one, off Quartz Hill Road. Roads blocked off. First responders on the scene. I think they already have a handle on it, but we can see the smoke plume. WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS!
Insurance people came to power wash our house and it's already covered in ash, again.
When the fires were NW of us, the wind came from there. When they were SW of us, the wind came from there. Now they're NE of us AND THE WIND IS NOW COMING FROM THERE! I'm so tired of breathing smoke. THIS IS TRULY THE SUMMER FROM HELL!

NO! Not again! You don't deserve this, nor does anyone else.
Please take care, and consider moving to the east part of Bend. As far as I know, there's not much risk of fire around here.

All out. It must have been a little one, but they don't mess around. They had at least 3 planes and one chopper in the air. Whew!
