Re: Forum Poll: Social Media
I used to spend a lot of time on a leatherworking forum (that's one of my other hobbies), and was dragged kicking and screaming to get on Facebook by some of my friends. But it's grown on me somewhat... I enjoy the posts from my family with photos and life updates. I've got nieces and nephews overseas, and it's amazing how much easier it is to stay close to them now, than it was in the old days before the web. There are lots of special interest pages and groups that I enjoy, there, too.
I still like the older web forums, though. It's easier in places like this to have more prolonged discussions about things without it all getting swept away in the deluge of messages you see in your feed. And a really big advantage of this type of forum is that the information that gets shared is much easier to go back and search for later on.

I do not nor would use FB. I am on Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram as well as Ravelry, a site for fiber artists, and of course here.

Re: Forum Poll: Social Media
I just found all of my buttons but none of them work. Is this feature not "live" yet? I didn't understand it before -- thought it was just generic -- but to link to our own pages on these sites is AWESOME! Thank you so much, RoOsTeR.
Re: Forum Poll: Social Media
@countrynaturals if you're referring to the ones listed under your avatar, you will have to set those up to link to your pages.

I did. Even changed one of them. None of them worked. I'll go try again right now.RoOsTeR wrote:@countrynaturals if you're referring to the ones listed under your avatar, you will have to set those up to link to your pages.
Nope, they all still say the same thing -- page doesn't exist.

When you go into your profile, just use @ to your username of that account.
For example: if your twitter address is something like https://twitter.com/countrynaturals
you would just type @countrynaturals for your twitter address link. Basically works the same with pinterest and the others.
Hope that solves it for you
and rofl. In my example to your twitter links directly to your account...I just took a wild guess.

Re: Forum Poll: Social Media
One more thing. The social network button links have always been enabled on all members users profile accounts. The new social network buttons for the forum would link directly to the foundations and our forums social network pages. Not personal pages. The new button links will probably be displayed somewhere on the index page...same as just about every home page on the web.

I never saw them before They're AWESOME! Now I must get to work updating all of my pages in case somebody actually clicks on one of those links. Thanks, RoOsTeR.RoOsTeR wrote:One more thing. For pinterest, try just inserting your username.

I need it to go to our gardening board. My username would take folks to the main sanctuary page, which isn't about me.RoOsTeR wrote:For pinterest, try just inserting your username.
