My First SFG Texas Style!
Caught the gardening bug and stumbled across square foot gardening. Built the box one weekend, painted during week and a weekend of mixing Mel's mix and starting my first vegetables, in this case broccoli. I'm so proud!

ZF, Welcome to the Forum from middle California! Love your box! Two great things about having the box on cinder blocks is that no tree or shrub root will ever, ever invade through the bottom of the box, and less weed/grass seeds will blow in there, especially when mowing your grass! It looks like your weather is great for year around gardening. A little freeze protection a few days in the winter.

The box is great! Welcome, ZF, from Ohio! You are off to a great start with your veggies! And a red, white and blue post for 9/11 is pretty cool, just sayin'!
Can't wait to see your progress, especially when we are buried in snow and have to love vicariously though our 4 season friends!

Very nice looking box. I like a bit of colour in the garden. I am thinking that when I begin to renew my boxes I will paint them different colours (on the outside of course) so that there is something nice to look at most of the year.
PS. I have never visited Austin but I have been twice to San Antonio. Way different to British Columbia.
