- Day 6 - Drive from Golden to Salmon Arm BC via TransCanada Highway and passing thorugh Glacier National Park, Rogers Pass and Mount Revelstoke National Park
- Day 7 - Visit with friends in Golden BC
- Day 8 - Drive back to Calgary through the four National Parks

As we passed through Banff National Park we stopped at Banff and Lake Louise as well as some spots along the roads.

Were you able to see the first slideshow? I am not happy with Photobucket where I host the photos. Their website has become choked with so much advertising that it is almost unusable.

OMG!  I just watched the first set of photos and they are gorgeous!  I love the 2nd one with the train on the left side.  I want to ride that train.  Bet it's a beautiful trip.

Heading off to watch the batch above now...
WOW!  Brought tears to my eyes they are so gorgeous.  Funny couple things: photo 12 mountain looks like the one from the movie Close Encounters. And The Kicking Horse Pass plaque photo has a car flying behind it.

CC ... that was a freight train.  This is the one you need to ride on.  Crazy expensive though.

Just to finish off the photos here are a few more.

This is the Horseshoe Canyon just outside Drumheller Alberta in the Canadian Badlands.

These are the Hoodoos in the Badlands.

In this photo you can see me crossing the suspension bridge over the Red Deer River near Drumheller. The bridge was built to allow miners to cross over to a coal mine.

This bridge over the TransCanada Highway in Banff National Park is for animals.  There are fences along both sides of the highway to prevent animals from getting onto the highway. The animal bridges allow them to get across.

This photo was taken part way up a mountain that overlooks Salmon Arm, British Columbia.

Absolutely lovely!

However, I never met a salmon with an arm.  Shocked
You gotta love a country that builds bridges for it's animals. I love you
What the heck is a hoodoo??? thinking and why is it called 'Badlands'? What's bad about it?

Salmon Arm ... The city of Salmon Arm probably (I'm guessing) got its name from the fact that there are huge salmon runs at certain times of the year up the many streams and rivers. I think the word "arm" refers to the fact that the body of water that can be seen in the picture is an extension (like an arm) of a much larger lake.

Hoodoo ... Spires of rock which have a hard cap under which the softer rock has been eroded away. Origin of the word "hoodoo" on one web site is "late 19th century (originally US): apparently an alteration of voodoo. It originally denoted a person who practiced voodoo, hence a hidden cause of bad luck (sense 1 of the noun). Sense 2 of the noun is apparently due to the resemblance of the rock column to a strange human form, often topped by an overhanging “hat” of harder rock".

Badlands ... This is a heavily eroded area which cannot be used for farming and which has little vegetation. When you see it you realize as well that the many hills, valleys, canyons make it an ideal place for the bad guys to hide out in (think of those old wild wets days).

Beautiful!!  Love the pictures thanks for sharing.  I've been to Yellowstone and if the area wasn't so expensive around Jackson Hole I'd love to live there.  Waiting for my powerball win...

Lord willing we would like to visit every province and territory in Canada. So far we have done Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Price Edward Island, Alberta and British Columbia.

Still need to go to Saskatchewan, Manitoba. Newfoundland, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

Should mention that in the USA we have been to New York State, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Florida and Arizona. It would take more years than we have left to do all the states.
