Hello from South-East Alabama!
Wow...What can I say except that it is so nice to find like minded people from all over the globe converged into this one little corner of the internet!! I am happy to be here and there are many things in relation to square foot gardening that I need and want to learn. This year I have attempted my first square foot vegetable garden...ONLY I am doing it in small, round, children's plastic swimming pools (2 @ $7.00 a piece) and in icing buckets that I purchased from my local Wal-Mart's bakery for $1.00 a piece. I do not have the luxury of a yard this year, but I do have a patio, (and a very tight budget!), so when looking for other options..this one appealed to me and is working out very nicely!!! I did section off square feet in one pool and that is where I am growing, cilantro, basil, carrots, marigolds, lettuce, chives, bush beans and believe it or not...Brussel Sprouts! The other pool is sectioned of into quaters..and in here I am growing sugar peas, green beans, summer squash, and cucumber. (My profile pic is of my summer squash plants taken on May 5, 2010). In the buckets I am growing tomatoes and carrots...(I am dying to know if carrots really do love tomatoes!)
I have a lot to learn...I am using bamboo poles as my support and I hold all of that together with the dental floss trellis fence squares I made. (My next door neighbor calls me the "MacGyver of Gardening"..how cool is that!!!) I look forward to getting to know many of you through your ingenious methods and adventures in gardening!!! Thank-you Mel for inspiring me!!!

Welcome to the forum !! Im new too, this is our first SFG garden and our 4th garden ever This has been fun finding folks from all walks of life that love to have their hands in the soil and then to watch their stuff grow This method I think allows for so many more opportunities like the way you are doing yours !!!!
