What Organic fertilizer for Cantaloupes and Watermelons?
Hi Folks,
Plants are growing, but I'd like to give them some food. What Organic fertilizer should I use for both Cantaloupes and Watermelons?
Thanks
Bart

By the way, the organic fertilizer is for two containers that do not have Mel's Mix in them. So, I'm still trying to stay organic.

I use compost inside and outside the SFG but I use Neptune on my veggies if they need a bit more of a boost. On my perennials I use Espoma Plant Tone, but rarely need it.

I also use the Espoma xx-Tone line of products.

+1 and I also tried Dr. Earth but who knows if it is doing any good. I use blood meal on the corn for extra nitrogen.sanderson wrote: I also use the Espoma xx-Tone line of products.

I'm making a tea out of worm castings. The bag it came in says it works, what do you all think? Is it any good?

I use blood and bone meal raked in around plants, but it is slow release. I have seen Espoma here at Walmart. I would use that if I needed to.
I have 4 large containers (the annex) that don't have MM in, but I plan on either B&B meal or compost! I never have enough compost....
Where do you get Neptune? Is it fish emulsion?

I got mine at the local nursery that has everything, including vermiculite. Mine is fish and seaweed blend but there are different ones. http://www.neptunesharvest.com/

If you can get worm castings, better yet certified organic ones, there is no safer bet on this earth. Its like a natural version of Miracle Grow.
The only downside: tends to be expensive and not easy to find.

Hence, the worm tube in the bed. Moving the tube to the other end after a while, gets the casings spread around.Sunsanvil wrote:If you can get worm castings, better yet certified organic ones, there is no safer bet on this earth. Its like a natural version of Miracle Grow.
