Zoom Organic fertilizer Empty Zoom Organic fertilizer

Post  vanter0109 7/10/2010, 3:16 pm

I picked up a bag of Zoom Organic fertilizer & added to my garden about 2 weeks ago. And like a ditz, I did not pay attention to the ratio, but it is only 4-3-2. Last week I sprayed Miracle Grow Liquiafeed, which is recomended to be applied every 7-14 days.

If I were smart, I would've been smart, I would've gotten a higher ratio for my organic.

Any recomendations? I don't want to burn my plants.

I discovered Dr Earth at the local nursery and then Googled them to find out what I could before making a purchase. All of their organic fertilizers are low numbers too, but they won't burn anything if applied right. The Tomato, Vegetable and Herb Fertilizer is 5-7-3 and they have microbes and things to help build your soil. Now this isn't a commercial for them but it is their pitch that I bought into as a gardener and not a soil science person. I started using their products from the start of our garden in August, 2010 and to be honest I can't say that anything is better. Everything I grew did nicely and I am sticking with Dr Earth for now just to see if in the long run it will actually make my soil as healthy as pitched by their advertising. I don't know if this helped in any way but I think you have to help things along in a raised bed garden and organic isn't a bad way to go. By the way a box of Dr Earth V and H fertilizer at $8.99 (4lbs) will cover 60 sq ft of soil. I have two 4x8 boxes or 64 sq ft so it is very economical for me to apply twice a year. Just thought I would throw that in for any comparisons anyone might make.

It's tough to burn your plants with anything under "5", so you should be fine ... especially if you didn't apply both on the same day and/or there was a watering in between.

The fish emulsion brand they carry in our area is 5-1-1 and I've seen that stuff used almost daily, with no burn to the plant (may never bloom due to all the leaf growth, but it won't burn...LOL).

If your looking for a place that carries a lot of organic fertilizer varieties, try "the Worm's Way" ..... I've never seen so much "poop" in my life. Honestly, my wife and I spent and hour in the "poop" aisle, marvelling at all the varieties of compost and organic fertilizer.

Very exotic .... incredible seletion ..... looked a little pricey though??

However, they do carry the vermiculite in the big 4 cu bags there.

EDIT: Opps, nevermind .... just saw the original post date & that the author hasn't logged on in 3 months.
