My First Attempt Empty My First Attempt

Post  dzlater 5/21/2016, 12:05 pm

I made 2 4'x4' beds. I mixed up 6 cu,ft. of mix.I thought that would be more then enough but I came up a little short, so I added some more compost and peat moss mix, I wasn't buying another bag of vermiculite. I hope I didn't screw upthe ratios too badly.
I know part of SFG is not over planting and then thinning. But for the seeds I just sprinkeled a bunch in each grid and will thin as needed. At $1.29 a pack and still using less then a whole packet I really wouldn't consider this wastefull.
Next year I'll try and start the seeds indoors and then plant.

  I planted:
plants
tomatoes
 cucumbers
peppers
beans

from seed
chives
parsley
cilantro
radishes
basil
scallions
spinach
lettuce

Sounds good, dz. I am psychologically unequipped to thin anything. That's why I have pots of extras all over the place. Rolling Eyes

And you're off! I did dill by seed last year, and wasn't happy with it at all, but I had it in sub-standard potting mix in a round container....live and learn. None of my flowers did well in that woody stuff they billed as potting soil.

Keep us posted, dz!
