Yea, we have an abundance of rabbits in our yard - neighborhood. And i can cover the top with a tarp if the weather gets iffy in the spring next year.

Re: My First Attempt
right after construction and filling with "mel's mix"
after removing one layer of 2x8 - (after learning about square foot gardening) and adding the "critter cage". Plans for the addition 4x8 for next year are in the works.
actively growing.
ASFG - best of luck with yours.

Re: My First Attempt
Pepper, quite possible. However, the cost of the soil is what will probably hold me back.
Quiltbea, thanks!!

Really nice, AF! Is the critter cage hinged to the box?

Thanks!! Well it is sort of. I used conduit clamps, which does act like a hinge. It is loosely attached, so come harvest or additional planting I'll have easy access to all sides.

Crunchy, I used just 1x2 pine lath, found at HomeDepot. I didn't feel like pre drilling them to screw them together so I just used zip-ties.

Re: My First Attempt
I love the critter cage, might try to do this ourselves - we have a bit of a squirrel problem here..bunnies are bothersome too. Thank you for sharing. Hopefully we will be on our way soon with our garden!

Re: My First Attempt
not sure this will keep squirrels out unless you put something over the top as well.??? . It has kept the rabbits out thus far!!

Re: My First Attempt
I just figured we would carry the chicken wire over the top, until the plants get too high, then we will probably have to remove it. But hopefully by then, we will be starting our harvest.
