SFG attempt
it's sortof sad but it's all made with 'scrap' materials so its good to reuse right?!
I am building a 2nd tomorrow but this one has peppers, basil, cilantro and mint, zuchini, eggplant, peas, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and cabbage.
I put the vines on the side, so i could trail them on the lawn,

Hi,
Scrap=free=my kind of gardening too!
I have to admit that I enjoyed seeing your box with various size 'squares' in it!
Happy Gardening

Re: SFG attempt
Once everything's growing you won't be looking at the boxes anymore , so it looks great to me!
Re: SFG attempt
Thanks! I did the boxes different sizes to fit our different needs. I have to say once I have more money and can actually find all the things in mel's mix i'll actually do it by the book.
my beds are lined with weed liner, straw and a mix of Potting Soil, Vermiculite, Mushroom Compost, Compost (?) cow manure compost and a little pig poo. Oh and Peat Moss. I'm hoping that they are as good as I think because I put in a sad droopy and almost dead pepper plant, watered and now its standing tall and strong 24 hours later!
I have the out side lined with the vine plants- peas, beans, squash and an eggplant ( which looks bush so it's by the leg of the box so that it can be tied to it). I have planted broccoli and cauliflower as well as carrots and cabbage. I'm waiting about two weeks and I'll plant radishes and turnips.
I'm building boxes 2 and 3 tonight.
