Re: Aerogardening
Santa is bringing me some refills and plant food for my seven pod Ultra Aerogarden. I'm thinking of growing several varieties of lettuce.

Re: Aerogardening
I just got thru harvesting about half of my aero garden that was jammed with lettuce. I love growing lettuce over the winter and the aero garden makes it real easy.

Re: Aerogardening
I must get some refills for my own Areogarden. It is nice to have it as a focal point in the room, a nice but of greenery and you can eat it.
Re: Aerogardening
Was in Sam's Club yesterday and noticed they have the AeroGarden Harvest Elite 360 in their Christmas gifts section. Hinted that would make a great Christmas gift to the DW, but she didn't seem too excited. If Santa doesn't bring one, I may have to buy my own.
If I do get one I think I'll order their Salad Greens Seed Pod kit, though. Be nice to be able to pick a few fresh lettuce leaves for salad mid-winter.

Re: Aerogardening
I would enjoy that I think. I do miss salad greens. Do they have basil?

Yes, their Herb Seed Pod Kit includes: Genovese Basil, Curly Parsley, Dill, Thyme, Thai Basil, and Mint.

I went on the AeroGarden site and compared the Harvest 360 ($99) and the Harvest Elite 360 ($129) to see what the differences are. (The one Sam's Club has is Harvest Elite 360).
The only differences I saw is that the Elite has a Vacation Setting, Digital Display, and Stainless Steel instead of plastic (The Sam's Club one is Platinum Stainless Steel). I'd probably go with the Elite because of the stainless steel and digital display, but as far as growing performance it doesn't seem like there would be any difference.

OK, that sounds like a plan! I think this will be my gift to myself for my birthday! I think I would enjoy this over the winter! And I know I will love the fresh veggies and herbs.
Thanks for the input, I appreciate it!

Glad to hear this about their longevity! I am excited! Got my seed pack for salad greens, but no Aerogarden yet.

Is that the lowest height you can set the lights at?, typically you have the lights as close as possible to the pods without touching any foliage

Re: Aerogardening
I actually had to re-seed the “pod” that had Marvel of 4 Seasons—one of my faves! It looked like it succumbed to rot at seedling stage.
We will see how this does. Lettuce seeds in my experience aren’t the best for holding over year after year, and I’m not sure what year these seeds are from!

Re: Aerogardening
Just a question about the Areogarden. Can a piece of plywood etc. be place on the top and regular seed cups be placed on it. I'm thinking about a 6-pack or a few cups for starting plants for planting out side.

Dang, OG you got the jackpot for sure! Must have done something right…lol
So sanderson…I do think that this can happen…I am not the expert on this. You can modify these Aerogarden lights…maybe simso?

Score!!OhioGardener wrote:Look what I got today. It is an AeroGarden Harvest Elite 360 in Stainless Steel. Sam's Club had them on after-Christmas sale for $89.91. Too good a price to pass up! It came with a Gourmet Herb Seed Pod Kit, but I am going to plant leaf lettuce seeds instead.

Re: Aerogardening
Any one use this for starting a few seeds indoors? The price is right. The seedlings would go into seed cups with MM as soon as they could. Our house is being tented and I need to start the peppers and herbs asap. I'm imagining the pods are peat. Oh, well.

Interesting concept. I see that AeroGarden has it available for $27.96.
