OK, so my big leaves on my patty pan squash plants are dying due to the mildew. I assume I am to trim them off, and destroy? Not compost, correct? The new, smaller leaves are looking OK at present. Will spray with the milk mix today again.

Just be on it every day with the milk. A small unnoticed spot can spread over half a leaf on a bad day.

I just spent 2 hours out there, cut about 1/3 of the leaves off the squash, picked beans, squash, cherry tomatoes, and pulled my 2 squares of Yukon Golds. Whew! Oh, and sprayed milk on squash plants!

Not sure, but i think the underside should be sprayed, also.

Absolutely. I rarely find cucumber beetles, for instance, on the top of leaves, even when they are infesting my garden. I find them underneath the leaves regularly. Same with almost every bug but leafhoppers, which I often find on top of the leaves.

Wish I could see a leaf hopper just once so I knew what I was looking at! I've looked at photos, I know they ruined my tomato crop last year, but I still don't know one when I see it.

I tried to hit both surfaces with the milk, so hopefully it will help. Just to get some of the canopy cleaned out was helpful in reaching into the plants a bit with the spray.

The only real bug-type pest I have dealt with this season has been those blasted JBs! They have decimated my pole beans. I am going to get my yard treated for the grubs for a couple years and see how that goes. They are sickening, always in various stages of copulation all over the beans..... Evil or Very Mad

My melons, cucumbers and squash are done for the year.  Powdery mildew came through and just plowed everything in about two weeks.

With the cukes and melon dead, looks like the Anaheim pepper is restarting though so at least I have one thing left growing.

Do the spray. It's cheap. If it rains, oh well, do it again.

Thanks for saying that, Sanderson.  I noticed a spot of PM on one of my squash leaves this morning, cut it off and thought, I'll spray with milk on Wed since there is a rumor of rain for Tue.  Well, you'd think I'd have learned by now....rumors of rain are just that in my area.

I'll spray when I get home tonight, and pray I have to do it again on Wed.
