Rain Collector
I have just finished my first Rain Collector. If it functions as designed, I have another one planned. San Diego is expecting rain and thunder storms for the next couple of days, so had to hurry the installation, which is to say it looks a little "rough".
The small blue barrel is the First Flush Diverter. Initial run off (polluted) will fill this barrel first. When the barrel fills, there is a ping pong ball float that will shut off water to the blue barrel, diverting water into the 270 gallon IBC tote, which is covered with a UV resistant tarp.
We'll see how it all works. I will report back in this thread.

Re: Rain Collector
Nice! I like the diverter set up. Please post after the rains. Even Fresno may get rain tomorrow.
Update on Rain Collector
We had a break in the weather, so I put a dip stick in the tank. The water level is 4" from the top. 200+ gallons of rain water collected and the storm supposedly isn't over.
A few issues, mostly leaks, although the little vent pipe needs to go higher. Nothing I can't fix. I love it when a plan comes together!
The below picture is the diverter valve over flowing during the initial storm burst. It's a little hard to see, but water is over flowing where the down spout enters the 4" white PVC and out the top of the little vent pipe.
