Re: California's Drought
I have a very big cloud that I would love to give you. It stretches from horizon to horizon and it is leaking very badly at the moment.

Re: California's Drought
Just finished watching a documentary hosted by David Suzuki about California's drought.
I feel for you, It really brought it home to me the plight that you are in.Perhaps I will not joke about our leaking clouds and sending them to you. but I sure wish I could even out things for everyone in the world.

Re: California's Drought
The new drought monitor came out yesterday, and it shows that the northwest corner of the state is now officially out of the drought. The borderline is about 20 miles northwest of us. They're predicting 6 days of rain in our area, starting Sun/Mon. Fingers crossed that will pull us out, too.
Re: California's Drought
Is this not absolutely the most beautiful 10 day forecast you've ever seen in your whole entire life?
Re: California's Drought
Should be getting some tomorrow, Thursday. Fingers crossed. Who else in CA is expecting rain?
Re: California's Drought
We're expecting 4 more days of it. Drought Monitor extended the "no drought" line northeast of us, but we're still in the "Abnormally Dry" area. We're going to break the record for the wettest October ever, so I'm sure? that next week we'll be completely clear of all drought conditions (please, please ).sanderson wrote:Should be getting some tomorrow, Thursday. Re: California's Drought
Nice soaking rain all night. We only need about 50-100 more of these kinds of nights!
Re: California's Drought
Drip system is OFF for the second time this year. If it weren't raining outside, I'd be out on the lawn doing backflips

My local friend's weather station showed 1.78" from this storm, doing the happy "rain" dance

Re: California's Drought
NO MORE DROUGHT FOR OUR AREA! The white area in the upper left corner is drought-free! I live in the lower right corner of that section. Last week we were still yellow (abnormally dry). 2 years ago, we were that awful dark red (exceptional drought). Last year we moved up to "severe." Now we're completely FREE! Sadly, our good fortune hasn't moved down to the rest of the state, but maybe their luck will improve soon, too.
Re: California's Drought
CC, happy for you and your area, and I also hope for more white and lighter colours to spread throughout California.

Much better than last year.Kelejan wrote:CC, happy for you and your area, and I also hope for more white and lighter colours to spread throughout California.
WOW! I just copied this to the clipboard and pasted it here. What a cool feature.
Re: California's Drought
How is "drought" decided? I live in the "boot," at the top of the foot. Audrey lives in the "toe" area. I took this photo July 13, 2014 and things look the same now:
Re: California's Drought
With a drought that severe i everything just brown and unprotected like that picture? Not talking about gardening. Is the water prices high?

Re: California's Drought
No, that's a fallow farm field in the semi-arid central valley. A 1/2 mile down the road there might be a vineyard, corn rows or fruit orchard.
On a drive last spring from the foothills towards the coast, I saw fields like that with dust devils blowing on them while the field across the road is planting a new orchard. It all boils down to who has water rights and allocation and the giant political game of winners and losers.
