Tomato branch - random wilting?

Hi, I've pulled three small branch sections of a seemingly healthy and very large cherry tomato plant. I noticed the first section today and then pruned two more. No spots, shiny leaves, no yellow or brown - nothing but the new areas of the plant just deciding to wilt.

The plant is very large, so large it got out of control. Perhaps this wilting is for self-preservation? I held off my regular three hour drip this past Tuesday and only did two, so maybe it's thirsty. I hate to give it more water if that's the problem. The soil is damp, so I'm not sure. Sorry. Ranting and no pictures. happy hi

Wilting is natural during the day with the temperatures we are having. The plant does this to conserve moisture. The leaves should bounce back in the evenings.

I think this is more than a temperature problem. There are now stems (still small) that have just decided to kick the bucket. I watered this morning. I used a drip irrigation (3 hrs/1 gal). I looked to see if one of the larger stems is damaged, but nothing so far. Here is a pic of the stem core. Is that normal?

There are at least a hundred cherries on it, so if it's dying, I'll be pulling them off as soon as I see color.

Are you seeing any blackish spots on the stems?

Hi Camprn, no - there are no other symptoms. I examined the plant from top to bottom. The only thing I did find is that a few of the wilty leaves had started to look a tiny bit lighter as if perhaps going to turn yellow.

The good thing is that this morning I went out and there were no new sections of wilting. It's a mystery!

Please post a pic of the whole plant and maybe one of the mix you are growing it in. It is time to feed the plants by topdressing with good compost or an organic feed.

Thanks again Camprn. I was just about to go out an throw some compost around the plants and feed. I'll try to post pics later. It's actually the same plant I posted pics of a few weeks ago. Very big Blondie.
