Jalapeno Pepper Spots Empty Re: Jalapeno Pepper Spots

Post  mollyhespra 6/10/2014, 9:30 am

I can't tell by the picture if it's anything to worry about, but I can tell you what I do when I see a leaf that's spotty or turning brown, especially one of the lower leaves: I cut it off and dispose of it in the trash (not the compost pile).

I then keep an eye on that plant and if it develops more spots on adjacent leaves, I observe their pattern and try to ID the culprit.  Most of the time it's just "age spots" if you will.  Just like we get spotty and gnarly as we age, our plants' older leaves do too.

That being said, familiarize yourself with the typical signs of early blight, late blight, and other diseases, mineral deficiencies & pests that affect toms, peppers & eggplants.  That way, you can be prepared with what to do if those culprits make an appearance in your garden.
