Question about Jalapeno and Banana pepper plants
I am new to all of this, so forgive me if this is a silly question I didn't find any information about these types of pepper plants in the book and am wondering if I should treat them the same in terms of when to plant, spacing, etc... as I would the regular pepper plant?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

They're all capsicums, so generally yes. Reading the spacing on the plant label, or seed packet(thin to number), will serve you better. Some cultivars of peppers can get big, though I have run across none that take up less than a full square.

Re: Question about Jalapeno and Banana pepper plants
I plant jalapeno plants two per square and bell peppers one per square. Not sure if that is the official SFG guideline for jalapenos but it works for me.

Re: Question about Jalapeno and Banana pepper plants
I grew banana peppers last year 1 per square. It gets to be a pretty nice size bushy type of plant.

Re: Question about Jalapeno and Banana pepper plants
Last year I planted 2 sqs of jalapenos 3 per sq in a triangle in one and an upside down triangle in the other. They did fine but my season is short.
This year I'm planting banana and red bull horn and will be planting 9 plants in 4 sqs (2 over 2) by planting them at the intersections of each sq. Hence they will each be 12" apart. The resulting shade will be fine for the shorter lettuces next to them.
