Separating Hot and Sweet Peppers
Is it necessary to keep hot and sweet peppers separated? By how much space?

Thank you! That is a myth. The fruit of this generation carry a fixed genetic code, a sweet pepper will be sweet and a hot pepper will be hot this season even though they are planted side by side. If there is cross pollination and you save the seeds then plant them next year some may be hot and some not, as they will have different genetics.bonnie0128 wrote:Thank you! I was hoping to save seeds so I'll try to plant sweet in front of the house and hot behind and hope that's good enough

This is just a novice's question. To throw true, could a new immature blossom be carefully wrapped in a couple layers of tulle until it is pollinated and one can see the growing fruit??
All of my peppers are potted and kept in one cluster. I move the whole cluster as the sun moves through out the season. If one wanted to save seeds, would that work? I have so many different kinds (colors, sizes, shapes, heat, etc.) that if I saved seeds I could end up with a whole new variety! Sanderson Zebra Pepper. Red, yellow and green striped.
