Is Sluggo Toxic? Empty Is Sluggo Toxic?

I started doing a little investigation about Sluggo since I have some pests I want to get rid of. I've read here that people use Sluggo, but since I didn't know anything about it I decided to do a quick search. This website says Sluggo is toxic because it contains EDTA. Apparently Iron Phosphate combined with EDTA is toxic. EDTA is not an ingredient required to be listed, so it's included as a supplemental ingredient.

There are a few topics on Sluggo and Sluggo Plus. Type Sluggo in the Search box for past discussions.

I use Sluggo Plus for snails, slugs, earwigs and sow bugs.

I also use Sluggo Plus, as needed.  There have been no problems with plants or pets.

I find this disturbing, but par for the course. It never made sense to me that a product such as this, that kills things, isn't the least bit dangerous so I've never used it.  But my mother does when she's here for the summer but only in the perennial gardens.  I didn't realize the animals would eat it. I've never seen my cat eat it but that doesn't mean she doesn't.

Guess I need to rethink putting the overflow seedlings in the perennial gardens and decide what to do about my cat, Lilly. darn this makes me mad! I gotta figure out who the write to about it while I'm hot under the collar...

didn't we start a thread about this kind of thing back when I found out that pyrethrin spray was toxic to cats? Does anyone remember that thread?

I found it!!!

Pesticides are toxic to be sure. I use a board trap for slugs. It works well.

Sluggo Plus is the newer, safer version of snail bait.  Not the horrible old version that was devastating to pets.  For the boxes, I put SP out in little trays made from the bottom of yogurt cups. I also sprinkle a little on the dirt outside the box, around the perimeter.

Yes, I sure remember the pyrethrin thread.  I will always feel guilty about 3 of my cats,.  I think they suffered from all kinds of well-meaning chemicals.

Sorry you got upset CC. I was just trying to get some clarification about Sluggo, but I know how you feel about being deceived. Frustrating!  Evil or Very Mad

I have a bit of old beer (I prefer drinking wine:) that I can try using. I don't have a bad problem, but a few pesky rolly pollys seem to be eating at the base of one of my zukes. On the upside, I have a hand full of lettuce that are doing really well. I've never grown lettuce before and am happy about the success. I thought once hot weather hit, they'd wither and die until I read that they . After reading some of the posts, I was worried about slugs getting to them, thus the question about Sluggo.
