2013 Yield

I had posted previously that I had finally done my tally for last year's harvest. So here it is...........
I didn't tally greens but had a good harvest of lettuce and kale but for me a disappointing chard harvest.

26 'French Breakfast' radish
29 'Cherry Belle' radish
14 "Salad Rose' radish
19 "Ivory' bell pepper
38 green bell pepper
27 "Anaheim' pepper
25 jalapeno
17 hot banana pepper
50 sweet banana pepper
4 "Cylindra' beet
9 "Detroit Dark Red' beet
3 "Bull's Blood' beet
8 "Early Vienna White' kohlrabi
2 "Purple Vienna' kohlrabi
46 "Chocolate Cherry' tomato
127 "Yellow Plum' tomato
27 "Scarlet Nantes' carrot
42 "Little Finger' carrot
2 zucchini
1 yellow squash
34 onion

I didn't count the larger toms or green beans; decent yields but not great. It wasn't a very good tomato year for me. Carrots, beets, and kohlrabi were new for me; will definitely do carrots and beets again but probably not kohlrabi. It took a lot of time and real estate for the yield.

Despite your disappointment if you priced out your entire yield at organic store prices, I'd say you still came out ahead, so Congratulations! 2013 Yield 3170584802

My chard was nothing to speak of either. The year prior my chard was huge. It's ridiculous how I keep failing at growing lettuce so this year I am putting more effort into fixing that.

Herblover, Tallies are a great idea. I think I will do it this year.

PS You had one more zucchini than I did!!

A few years ago I tallied by weight all the produce that came out of my SFG. Over 300 pounds of food from about 300 Sq.ft.

Two 4x4 boxes; so 32 sq feet. The tomatoes are not in the SFG; they have a dedicated spot in a bed by the house.

Herblover, I'm in awe of your pepper yield! A bit envious, in fact. I'd say you got a very good yield from 32 sq. feet. Congratulations! Oh, BTW, do you interplant with any herbs, like basil, dill? Nonna

Peppers have been a huge success for me in my SFG; one year I got 200 jalapenos from one plant. I do have herbs, but not in my SFG. Chives and oregano are in an island bed in the yard, I do plant basils in front of my tomatoes seeing as how they are best buds and like to hang out together, my sage bush is in a back flower bed. I will plant thyme and lemon thyme, rosemary and parsley in pots on the deck.
