Last fall I managed a 4x4x4 wire cage but it was too high for me to manage easily.
Turning it the first time took me hours and I found it very tiring.
I also used 4'x4'x8"s that I was going to use for future beds and decided to use them for composting and that worked very well. I filled the first layer then added the second, third and fourth layers as I progressed. When turning them I put another layer alonside then turn the first pile into it, layer by layer. So much easier.
This fall should be much easier as I have been going to fitness classes and I am feeling so much stronger.
Plantoid, I feel for you, I think I would have wanted to kill him as well.
Llama Momma, you are our queen of composting (as well as our queen of worms.) Very Happy

Wow, plantoid, that was some nasty luck.

When I was a kid, we had neighbors who lived across a broad field of very tall sawgrass. They didn't bother mowing it or scything it; they just set it on fire to control it. Unfortunately, that fire would then take off from the edge of their property, which they could monitor, over to our property, where who knows if we would even be home. We wouldn't get a warning either. Pretty scary.

My biggest was 1 straw bales by 2 straw bales, then just piled as high as I could throw  everything in the middle.  It got to be about 2 feet higher than the top of the bales, then covered in snow for the winter to stew.  Tore it apart at the end of the next summer and used the bales as mulch and browns for a new pile.

I'm trying for simple and easy. For my 2nd bin, I'm going to see if I can just use pvc pipe, maybe 1 in, with air holes in it. I'm going to put the pipe thru holes in the bin that will just fit. I'll use this site for my ideas.  If it works, should be able to use smaller containers/maybe trash cans.

Wow, what a cool idea. Love how completely lazy it is! Seems like a perfect solution. I'd love to try this myself sometime.
