Rotten Potato Empty Rotten Potato

As I was digging for more new potatoes today, I encountered a slimy, squishy mess, which turned out to be a rotten tuber; also, the lower stems had rotted.  At first, I thought that square had gotten too much water.

Could this be potato blight?  Should I dig the rest of the potatoes right away?


The other tubers I dug seem to be okay.

Was there green foliage attached to this tuber? Any lesions on the foliage?

It may be that the potato you planted just failed.

How cold does it get in your region during the winter?

Scroll down and there are pictures and loads of info.  I had some with light brown on the inside yet the outside seemed normal.  So I've been studying this site for awhile--
