Flower Spacing? Empty Flower Spacing?

I built three 2x6x6 deck rail boxes and want to plant flowers in them. I have searched this site and found vegetable spacing guides, but not flower spacing guides. If someone could post what flowers can fit in the six inch space, I would appreciate it.

Could you clarify the dimensions? Is your box 2' x 6' x 6 inches?
or 2' x 6 inches x 6 inches? Knowing will help answer your question.
