Hello from North of Seattle
Hello,
I live about 20 minutes away from Seattle and I am just getting started with my Square Foot Gardens, I have my materials for making the beds and my mix ingredients and now it's raining again so I have to wait to get things set up. I've done gardening in the past and had moderate success with certain veggies. The SFG appeals to me now because of the efficient use of space. Something I don't have a lot of. I'm looking forward to being here and learning all I can about having a good crop of veggies.

Darcy!
You will enjoy the new boxes once you get them set up. Post pics of the process, as we LOVE pictures before, during, after, above, below, upsidedown, etc!

Darcy, do you have 'The Book' yet?

Re: Hello from North of Seattle
I have "The Book" and I've been doing tons of research about pest prevention and critter/cat cages while I wait for a dry day to do my mixes etc. I remember the gardens my Mom did and the problems she had with pests and I hope to avoid those problems. I already have a nice herb garden and it's been a long time since I've grown any veggies. I'm super excited to get started.

Re: Hello from North of Seattle
Hi Darcy and to the forum! Lots of people from the Seattle area popping up lately. I just spent a couple of days there last week, but the rest of the time I'm down at the bottom of Washington, in Vancouver.
I hope you'll find us in the PNW region - go to the home page and scroll down to find the regional sub-forums. We keep a monthly thread going where we all "check in" every now and then with what we've been up to with our gardens, or life in general. All of us in the PNWet region can relate to the "waiting on the rain to stop". Plenty to poke around on and read on the forum in the meantime. Feel free to ask any questions that come to mind - lots of friendly folks here willing to help you out.

Hi Darcy,
You stole my subject line! I'm in the Ballenger Terrace neighborhood. I've been inspired by some gardener's in the mid and east north. They find something to do out side even with three feet of snow! So now I have a rain jacket designated just for yard work. It's even been warm and comfortable in the rain. I'm new to the SFG method and looking forward to something new.
