Hello from N of Seattle
I've been working at transforming my hobby into a business now for about 3 years. I love to propagate landscape plants. I've liked the idea of growing our own food. I'm ready to get more serious with the vegy's and SFG sounds like a system that will work for us. I'm inventing my own rabbit trail on this idea. I have a 2' by 16' strip near the driveway. It's already raised behind a rock wall and level on the other side with the lawn. My dh has an aversion to new ideas and I have a new one every day. So sneaking in this vegy garden among some flowers is going to be perfect. On the other side of the lawn I've added a few level boxes(sections) of pea's. Since there is no mowing yet, he has not discovered! I figure if that pea section is a success he won't mind if his mowing task is smaller next year I'm looking into setting up some irrigation so that we can leave in the summer with out killing everything. I might be over thinking this but I really want to make sure I don't buy a bunch of over priced mistakes. For the nursery I just use timers and an impact sprinkler head but that wont work here. I'm always looking out for short cuts and I'm wondering if I make my irrigation do double duty and set up my dividers at the same time. Do I want drips or sprayers or both can it be changed out next year? These are the crazy questions that brought me here. I hope to make a decision today... hey it's raining again, never mind.

Zeke.
Do a search (top left column) for watering ideas. There have been a number of threads using PVC as a grid watering system. This is one:

I use a drip watering system with the emitters in the tubing every 12".
Do you have the All New Square Foot Gardening book? It is the basis most of us on this forum use for our gardens.

Thanks for the advise. I'll continue to do my research here. I've read every thing I can on line re: SFG and have the new book on order at the Library. I suspect I might want my own copy though. I've been reading one of Eliot Coleman's books and making my gardening plans with GrowVeg.com program. I think my head might explode with all the fabulous tips I've gotten already.
