Hello from North of Seattle, WA!
Hello there! I am Paula (a.k.a. "Momma Pajama"), and I live in Edmonds, WA, about 15 miles north of Seattle on the Puget Sound. I grew up spending summers on my grandparents' farm in Michigan and have always had an itch to garden. My husband and I moved around a lot while he was in the Navy, so I never got a space of my own until we bought this home. Last summer, we took down several dying trees in our front yard, dug a small goldfish pond, laid a cement mosaic path, and put in our first SFG bed, 24 sq. feet (photo above). I learned a lot, and this year I am expanding to 5 beds totalling 150 sq. feet.
Here is my plan for the front yard. (Our backyard is very shaded by dozens of mature evergreens in the surrounding neighbors' yards, so my sun is only in the front). So far, I have the berry bed ready, and the 2 top beds are ready to plant with early crops. I hope to have the 2nd set of beds leveled and filled by late this month for my warmer weather crops. We also have planted rhubarb, 4 raspberry bushes, an Italian prune plum tree, and a grafted 5-variety cherry in the front yard.
Last year my 24 sq ft garden yielded about 30 lbs of produce, so I am excited to track the poundage and local dollar value of my expanded garden this year! I am in the process of completing Mel's correspondence course to be a certified SFG coach too!
I'm happy to be here and to meet you!
Re: Hello from North of Seattle, WA!
Paula those are some pretty veggies you've got growing! Being from an area of the sountry where brown, rust, and orange are the prevailing colors I'm looking forward to having some green as pretty as that! Check in with your fellow Pacific Northwest folks in the PNW group. They'll love to have a fellow enthusiast join them.

YEEEEAH another PNW member! Paula has been to the PNW regional forum and it turns out she and Deb are almost backyard fence neighbors. (OK, I exaggerate a little, but what's a few miles matter!)
Between she and Deb, I stand a chance of becoming a knowledgeable gardener!
