Yes! (and we had talked about it. I use the sour sorrel roots for dye, that one is not so noxious).
The links say ~ Cultural Techniques
- Frequent cultivation can control red sorrel
- Hand removal and mowing can control red sorrel
It likes acid soil, which MM often is with all that peat, so mellow it a bit with a sprinkle of ashes, bone meal, lime.
You maybe can sift the root bits out after pulling.

Frequent cultivation works on most root propagating plant basically through exhaustion extinction.
My two worse weeds at the moment are plants that are sold for good money in stores. Asparagus ferns and spider plants.
This little ditty
turns into this monster with each branch covered in thorns and spines.
Rip it out and the roots sprout everywhere.

It took me a while to get to weeds because we had a lot of days of rain but we FINALLY got some sun the past 2 days and I worked for about 10 hours to get this one garden bed done. I started to do it by hand in the garden bed but that was taking a long time. So, I had to use a metal rake and pull to even get the roots out of the bed, which practically pulled up all the soil because the roots were connecting. I put all the soil with weeds and all on a large tarp and that is when I found a huge hole in the weed blocker with a very large root that came through from underneath. So, I replaced the weed blocker with 2 layers of new weed blocker. That was all done yesterday.
Today, I (husband and daughter helped later on) sifted for about 5 hours throughout the day through the soil to get the roots and moss out. It was quite the chore and one I don't EVER want to do again! Then, we put the soil back in the garden bed and will mix in the compost blend this weekend if time permits.
Here is the before and after:
Feels good to have that one done!
